SUMMARY:Athens GA  Classic City Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The Athens Radio Club is looking for volunteers to help with one of the fastest growing marathons in Georgia! Not only will this be a great public service\, it’s also great for deployment training!\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n  \nTHIRD ANNUAL CLASSIC CITY MARATHON\, HALF MARATHON\, AND MARATHON RELAY \n  \nThis is the third year that ham radio operators have supported this event. Organizers are expecting 2000+ runners to participate. That is quite a bit larger than last year. We need at least 16 operators!. A command center will be set up\, and we will assign shadow operators to key personnel. We will need to be on site no later than 6:45 am. Please sign up as soon as you have decided to work this one – we need to know how many folks we can count on. This is a staggered race\, so operators can leave their stations as soon as the runners clear. More details on that as we make assignments The date is Saturday\, January 24th\, which coincides with Winter Field Day. SUMMARY:GA State Parks On-The- Air (POTA)
DESCRIPTION:Mark the Date! This is a very early heads up that on the weekend of April 1-2\, 2023\, there will be state-wide POTA activations of all 50 Georgia State Parks! Right. The idea is to enlist enough hams from all over to fan out across the state and activate 50 parks over the course of that one weekend. You’ve probably seen other states activating all of their parks on one weekend\, and now Georgia will be doing the same. Details are still being worked out\, but there will be a process for individuals\, clubs\, and ARES groups to sign up for particular parks\, with the possibility that several parks will see multiple activators. In addition to regular POTA credits\, there will also be recognition for contacts and activations during the event\, including Georgia park-to-park contacts. And because POTA activations are good training for ARES deployments\, there will even be a little “friendly competition” among ARES groups. This should be a ton of fun.

For those who prefer mountain biking\, there are also 5\, 16\, and 36 mile options on the historic Bartram Trail\, sponsored by SORBA-CSRA. DESCRIPTION:Free BBQ lunch is a highlight of the 2020 ARCA Fall Swapmeet. Indoor tables for sellers are free on a first-come\, first-served basis. Additional tailgate space and ample parking will be available. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with lunch starting at 11 a.m. Location is the former REACT building at 4145 Mack Lane in Augusta. A silent auction will be conducted for the club’s Mosley Model 33 tri-band Yagi antenna with a starting bid of $100 and minimum $20 incremental bids. This is a on cash and carry basis.
