The Best Dam Ride is a fun, casual bicycle ride for cyclists of all ages and experience levels. Hundreds of riders gather at J. Strom Thurmond Dam at Clarks Hill Lake to enjoy a group bicycle ride that circles the lake, covering three counties and looping through both Georgia and South Carolina. For road cyclists, there are 29, 62, and 100 mile options making the ride fun for all intensity levels. For those who prefer mountain biking, there are also 5, 16, and 36 mile options on the historic Bartram Trail, sponsored by SORBA-CSRA. The sponsor provides a free BBQ at the end of the ride for all participants and volunteers.

The ARCA provides communications support for this event at various fixed locations around Lake Thurmond using local 2m repeaters and a non-directed net operation.
