Amendments Pending Approval by Vote of the Membership
The purpose of the Amendment to Section 3 is to make the process of membership revocation consistent with the process of granting membership. Currently, membership may be granted by a 2/3 vote in favor of the applicant by the members present at a General Meeting, but membership can only be revoked by a majority vote of the club’s full membership. The amendment will make the process of revocation consistent by requiring a 2/3 vote in favor of revocation by the members present at a General Meeting. The rest of the membership revocation process remains the same.
The purpose of the Amendment to Section 8 is to establish a specific category of membership for deceased members and former members. The membership category will be named Silent Key and the status will be automatically granted to current members upon their death. The status may also be granted to former members at the request of their family and approval by a 2/3 vote in favor of the request by the members present at a General Meeting. Currently, deceased members are granted Honorary Member status, which can be confusing since we also grant that membership status to living people.
