Hope everyone is surviving this “terrible” winter. I’ve gone into wearing shorts.
Well just around the corner are a couple of events to take your mind winter! On Saturday March 3rd, we are going to have our annual Winter Swapmeet. It will be held from 8-1 in the Julian Smith Casino Parking Lot, 2200 Broad St. in Augusta. So clean out that shack (like you promised your spouse months ago) and bring those treasures to the Swapmeet. Make a few deals and spend it on some better deals at the Meet! This will be outside, so plan accordingly. There is no charge. We also plan to have W4DV set up in the lot to make a few contacts and demonstrate Ham Radio to any passers-by that may be interested. Come by and make a few yourself.
In April on the 15th, the club will be once again providing communications support to the Best Dam Ride at Lake Thurmond. If you are interested in finding out more about our role in the event and/or are interested in joining us, go to the “Events” tab of this web site and scroll down to the “best dam ride” and click on the “find out more” to read the PDF Information sheet. The contact info is posted there.
We are looking at a picnic in May and Field Day in June. Also several other operating events are on the drawing board for later this year.
Our March 20th Club program will be given by the Columbia NWS. It will be the SKYWARN Net Controller Certification class. If you have any interest in being a Net Controller in their program, you don’t want to miss this program!!
